The iconic three bridges on the Firth of Forth not only span the River Forth they also span over three centuries of engineering feats. The Forth (rail) Bridge was the first to span the river and was opened in March 1890. Then it was the Forth Road Bridge which opened in September 1964. Finally, the Queensferry Crossing was opened to traffic in August 2017.
